Teaching high school math to students requires a ton of communication. The main issues in communication in this field is being able to effectively communicate with the students in order for them to understand what you are teaching and to be able to grasp the concepts being taught. Also communication between teachers and between the schools administrators is important so that everyone is on the same page on what the students are learning and supposed to be learning. Different media is used for communicating. A lot of high schools use smart boards to project their notes on for the students to learn and also you are able to write and solve problems on them. Also dry erase boards are used to be able to do class practice.
To effectively communicate in the education field a teacher needs to know their students. Everyone learns differently and at different rates. A teacher has to be able to know what level each child is on and how the child learns the best. The number one goal is for the student to learn what he or she is supposed to and to succeed in the class. This means that the teacher will need to be flexible. It is important that teachers are flexible to changing their teaching style or putting in extra hours to try to come up with ways to effectively teach the material to the students. Also teachers need to have a great deal of patience. Not only do teachers need patience for misbehaved kids, they also need patience for the students who do not understand the material as quickly. This might mean planning and having one on one time with students with the lessons being taught. Teaching is all about communicating the right way to each individual student.
What do you feel would be the most significant obstacles in effectively communicating with students in a third world country that potentially speak no English and lack the media tools that students in the United States have at their disposal?
