Hi! My name is Carly Lightbody. I grew up in Aiken, SC where I played soccer my whole life. I'm a Junior here majoring in Secondary Education and Math. I want to teach Calculus and Algebra at the high school level. I always knew I wanted to be a teacher but was never sure what age. I thought I loved young kids but after tutoring 4th graders for a semester I decided I related better to high school students and always had a love for my math classes. My older brother is a high school math teacher so hopefully one day we will be able to be teaching at the same school.
One thing that I would think is interesting about me is that I'm dying to go into the Peace Corps after I graduate college. One thing developing countries need are educators and I would be able to use my schooling for others. I am really eager to submit myself to others with a different culture in order to help them and maybe even learn from them too. I feel like it would be a life changing experience and I really hope that it will work out for me one day after I graduate.
